Service & Reparatur
Service
To maintain optimal playability and condition, an instrument should not only be handled with care but also regularly inspected. This helps catch issues early before they develop into serious damage.
Stiff tuning pegs can be made smooth and easy to turn again, the fingerboard can be restored for optimal intonation, and small repairs can be quickly and easily reglued. Customer-focused service is the priority to provide the right care for every instrument.

Sound adjustment
The instrument is the tool of all musicians as the key to perfect sound. The sound of an instrument is influenced by many small details, such as the position of the soundpost or the design of the bridge, the material of the accessories or the choice of strings. These and other factors are considered and corrected when finding the optimal sound of an instrument.

Modification to a left-handed instrument
Even today, left-handed people are at a disadvantage in music. Teaching staff rarely offer lessons “the other way around,” and not every orchestra welcomes left-handed playing. When it comes to choosing an instrument, far fewer options are available.
Before right-handed playing completely takes the joy out of making music, it’s worth considering learning to play in the natural way. Since left-handed musicians already face enough obstacles, I not only offer instrument modifications but also provide a conversion for left-handed play at a significantly reduced extra cost when purchasing one of my instruments.
Under https://www.linksgespielt.de/ musicians who play their instrument left-handed professionally have their say.

Service for Bows
The bow should also be regularly maintained, as it requires cleaning and, depending on how much it’s played, new bow hairs approximately every two years. Only the finest Mongolian stallion hairs are used for this. The leather protecting the stick from wear also thins over time. Ask to see the different types of leather and choose based on what feels right!
The silver wrapping can also wear out and show signs of ageing. In this case, it can be replaced with the finest silver wire or silver thread on a nylon core. Single or two-tone threads can also be woven in to give your bow a very personal touch.
Minor repairs such as replacing the headstock are also carried out in the workshop.
When do I need new bow hair?
- If you constantly have to add rosin.
- If the response is no longer optimal.
- If you have to exert more and more force when playing.
Repairs
If major damage occurs due to an accident, incorrect storage or overloading, the instrument must be repaired to allow further playing and to avoid the risk of more serious consequential damage. Depending on the instrument, value and budget, the method of repair can be customized.
In the case of instruments of particular historical value, the original material is also preserved as far as possible. Old, unsightly traces of repairs can also be removed.

Soundpost patch
If too much pressure is exerted on the soundboard, for example in the event of a fall, the soundpost, which is clamped between the soundboard and the back inside the instrument, can push through the surface and cause a crack or even a large break. This requires special treatment, as it is an important and highly stressed acoustic center. For this repair, a lining is worked into the ceiling, which replaces the damaged material but is not visible from the outside. This preserves the stability of the acoustic center.
